We are so excited to welcome Marta Poli for the next in our series of wine dinners at the shops. These dinners have been a blast—eating and drinking in a community setting, and this all bubbles line up with a menu prepared by Sophia Pendergast is going to rock your world.

Marta Poli, Export Manager for Mirabella Franciacorta fell in love with wine at the age of 3. She is thrilled to showcase Mirabella Franciacorta Brut, Rose and Saten and loves teaching wine enthusiasts about this beautiful wine region in the north of Italy.

Sophia Pendergast is a talented local private chef, who has cooked with us before and never disappoints.  She has put together a beautiful menu that is regionally inspired and locally sourced to pair with the sparkling wines from Mirabella. Menu TBA*

SPECIAL EVENT! Holloran Wine Dinner

Holloran Wine Dinner

In keeping with our efforts to provide not only great wines and delicious foods, but also access to information about the products we support, we are rolling out a series of wine dinners this year that provide the opportunity to meet the producers.  Each event will focus on seasonal local produce and products in harmony with the wines of a particular winemaker. To kick this series off, we are welcoming Tim Holloran of Holloran Vineyards!

When Tim talks about his vineyards and the vinification of his wines, his eyes light up, his passion is palpable, and his enthusiasm for wine contagious.  We are thrilled to welcome him to come to the table and share this meal with you while he imparts the narrative of his wine journey.

I have created a menu with local spring fare that will highlight Tim’s wines, and I am thrilled to cook for you!

Wine Class - Getting Dirty: Understanding Terroir

Getting Dirty: Understanding Terroir

There is so much discussion about place of origin, but what is the impact of place, climate, soil, and culture on the flavor of wine?  Many argue that terroir is impossible to define or identify, so let’s talk about this very European idea of winemaking.  Hopefully, we can come to some agreement on the significance of this evasive term.

To tackle this conundrum, we will sample a single varietal from 4 distinctly different regions.

Spring Cooking School with Chef Julien Charvet: The Sea

The Sea

This is a class we have done before, but I never tire of it because it is the marriage of my two favorite places—Provence and Newport, and my favorite food—fresh fish.  Bouillabaisse is one of the world’s greatest delights for me, fresh seafood, cooked slowly in a rich and mouth watering broth, with the sweet subtle flavors of fennel and saffron, and the best part is the rouille spread on a thick crusted piece of toasted pain au levain.  Seriously, this is heaven, and truth be told, it is fairly easy to make.  Join us to learn how to clean a whole fish and put together this beautiful dish.
